Kind of - kind of Operating System in Mobile Devices

Senin, 02 Juli 2012

The operating system is the principal in charge of doing software management and control hardware directly, and other software so that other software can be run. The operating system itself is used as an intermediary between the user interface and the device used to control / manage the device or application in it.

Here are a variety of operating systems used on mobile devices. Among them:
SYMBIAN
Symbian OS is a free operating system is not developed by Symbian Ltd.. designed for use of mobile equipment (mobile). Symbian OS is currently a lot has been widely used by many vendors of mobile communications equipment products on various types of products they are varied. Variations from the hardware side is where the Symbian OS is implemented can be possible because the operating system application programming interface has (Application Programming Interface; API). API support for communication and behavior are common in hardware that can be used by other application objects. This is possible because the API is an interface object is defined at the application level, which contains procedures and functions (and also variables and data structures) that manage / call the kernel where as a liaison between software and hardware. With the standard API helps developers to make adjustments on an application made in order to be installed on a variety of mobile products.

Much like the desktop operating system, Symbian OS capable of operating in multithreading, multitasking and memory protection against. Symbian and all programming is done on the event-based, meaning that the CPU hardware becomes inactive when no input in the form of a particular activity. However, it should be understood the operating system is intended to be installed on mobile devices with limited resources. Multithreaded and multitasking Symbian OS provides the ability to run more than one application at once. But this particular, a preemptive multitasking kernel would give each division a processing time of a program carried out alternately so quickly that it seems to the user as if the process is executed simultaneously. For it has given priority based scheduling is defined to determine which processes are running first and subsequent process of what and how much time will be given.

JAVA
actual OS is arguably not a true operating system. Because each vendor will implement a different system for its products. Most of these are used to capabilitas java application from a third party. for example, java games, or other mobile applications. But not all who have supported java handset will also be able to support the same application, since it is associated systems and hardware in question. This makes the phone even though China has been supporting java but not java game commonly injected in circulation.
This operating system has the advantages of open source and requires memory and the processor is relatively small. The disadvantage is the main thing is not (yet) support multi-tasking (running several applications concurrently). So that the phone does not have to switch application button or image.

WINDOWS MOBILE
Windows Mobile is one of the operating system (OS) developed by Microsoft's mobile and designed for use on smartphones and other wireless devices. The current version is called 'Windows Mobile 6.5'. OS is based on Windows CE 5.2 Kernel, and features are developed using the Microsoft Windows API. Windows Mobile is designed in such a way that is similar to the version of the Windows Desktop. In addition, third party software available for Windows Mobile development.

First released as Pocket PC 2000 operating system, most Windows Mobile devices equipped with Stylus Pen, which is used to enter commands in a way to tap her on the screen. Microsoft announced a new platform, Windows 7 Series, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 15, 2010. Devices that use Windows Mobile 6.x series can not be upgraded to Windows Mobile Series 7.

ANDROID
Android is an operating system for mobile phones based on Linux. Android provides an open platform to developers for creating their own applications for use by a variety of mobile devices. Initially, Google Inc. buy Android Inc., newcomers who make software for mobile phones. Then to develop Android, formed the Open Handset Alliance, a consortium of 34 companies for hardware, software, and telecommunications, including Google, HTC, Intel, Motorola, Qualcomm, T-Mobile, and Nvidia.

At the inaugural release of Android, 5 November 2007, with the Android Open Handset Alliance said it supported the development of open standards on mobile devices. On the other hand, Google released the Android code under the Apache license, a license is open standard software and mobile devices. In the world there are two types of distributors operating system Android. The first fully supported by Google or Google Mail Services (GMS) and the second is a completely free distribution without the direct support of Google's otherwise known as the Open Handset Distribution (OHD).

PALM OS
Palm OS (also known as Garnet OS) is a mobile operating system originally developed by Palm, Inc. for perankat PDA in 1996. The company itself was founded in 1992 and headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, United States. Palm OS devices that are designed for ease of use with a touchscreen-based graphical user interface. Therein has been provided suite of basic applications for personal information management. A few years later expanded platform that can support the smartphone and PDA phone. After buying the Palm trademarks Palm by ACCESS who later changed his name to Garnet OS. In 2007, ACCESS introduced the successor to the Garnet OS, as the Access Linux Platform in the year 2009.

PalmOS advantages compared to other operating systems are Palm has fewer system requirements and fast so it does not need a sophisticated PDA devices and costly, and does not require much memory to run properly. While the weakness of the Palm OS does not have an external storage media / extra, although it could fill a program, software or applications but can not be installed with a lot of capacity due to memory limitations only. In addition, the company that developed the Palm has discontinued the possible development of the Palm program will no longer exist and development is currently possible only in the form of support for the old Palm products

BLACKBERRY OS
The operating system was developed by RIM (Research In Motion) which is a multinational company that produces a wide range of telecommunications products. Founded in 1984. The company is headquartered in Waterloo, Ontario. OS is currently used by the RIM BlackBerry phones output. Can do multitasking operating systems and supports specialized input devices that have been adopted by RIM for use as trackwheel, trackball, and most recently, the trackpad and touchscreen.

BlackBerry bears the MIDP 2.0 platform, which allows complete wireless activation and synchronization with Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino, or Novell GroupWise email, calendar, tasks, notes and contacts, when used in conjunction with BlackBerry Enterprise Server. The operating system also supports WAP 1.2. Operating system updates are automatically available from the service provider that supports the service. OTASL BlackBerry (over the air software loading) third-party developers can create software using the BlackBerry API available (application programming interface / application programming interface), though applications using certain functions must be in a state of "digitally singned". RIM to develop and release an updated version of the operating system to support each device, it's up to individual operators to decide if and when a version is released to its users.

APPLE IOS
Microsoft rivals Apple as a competitor did not want to lose to plunge in the mobile world. Just like Windows Mobile, Iphone OS offering the same no matter which synchronization with other Apple products.

MOBILE LINUX
Linux is one operating system that is often used by the vendor Motorola. Either in series or series ROKR their touch-screen PDA. However, the limited support for additional application functionality and user interface are less familiar cause the operating system is arising deep in the mobile world.

The disadvantage is the additional applications that have not been widely circulated, and Linux is built for power systems with large mengoprasikan, so the battery resource management is still less effective than the other OS. The surplus is the ideal Linux as an OS for mobile phones because of support by large companies like IBM, Oracle, and Intel. In addition, this system is more flexible and offer a value smaller memory and can be saved.

SAMSUNG Bada
Operating System is made by samsung embed Adobe ® Flash ® Player and WebKit Internet browser directly to the original application, the control map bada easily embedded in your application to provide interactive mapping and routing with POI feature for your users.
Bada platform provides user interaction modalities including motion sensing, fine-tuned vibration control, and face detection. Samsung bada also provides a mechanism to develop sensor-based, context-aware applications. With services such as weather and acceleration sensors, magnetic, tilt, GPS, and sensor spacing, application developers can easily implement context-aware, interactive applications.

Maemo
Developed by Nokia as an alternative operating system based on Debian Linux. Maemo is an open source platform for devices that use the Linux system, such as internet tablet, which inherit the architecture of the Linux operating system Unix.

Maemo is made through open source components that are used widely with some additions to integrate well with all devices that use it. The operating system is more suitable for those who prefer the surf and browsing activity or communication rather than voice. No wonder in each device's release, Nokia has always put great resolution and wide screen complete with touch screen plus QWERTY keypad in the form of a slide. Currently Nokia has released three internet tablets using Maemo platform, the Nokia 770, Nokia N800, and Nokia N810, and the new Nokia N900.

MeeGo
Meego is a project-based open source operating system Linux was first announced at Mobile World Congress in February 2010 by Intel and Nokia. This operating system is a merger between Intel's Moblin with Nokia Maemo. The use of the operating system is targeted at mobile devices, tablet PCs, and Netbooks.
